Oil is Kinder than Ethanol

Is it morally justifiable to increase murderings and torturings of corn and sugarcane in order to lower energy costs for humans to drive around on roads that suffocate would-be seedlings from sprouting? NO, IT IS MORALLY REPREHENSIBLE!!!

The latest craze in the search for alternative fuels is ethanol. Brazil recently announced independece from Middle Eastern oil thanks in part to their production of ethanol (by fermenting poor, innocent sugarcane). Whoopty-do, Brazil. Your country just traded your everlasting souls for a domesticated renewable energy source. Nevermind that you cause insufferable harm to millions of plants EACH AND EVERY YEAR to do it. Killers.

There is also talk in the United States of moving toward higher ethanol production based on corn fermentation. I am sad to say that this sort of governmentally sanctioned cruelty towards corn will probably be commonplace and highly exaggerated within five years.

What kind of a world do we live in? No fruit, vegetable, or legume is safe.

I have no quarrel with the somewhat obvious and banal observation that the ethanol industry kills millions of innocent plants yearly. But how can you suggest that oil is kinder? In the short run, maybe, but have you forgotten that oil and other hydrocarbon-based fuels are derived from the corpses of billions of long dead plants, many of them long extinct. Using oil only encourages the exploitation of plants in the hope that they will die, decay, and eventually produce more fuel. The coal and petroleum industries rely on humans’ short memories, smugly confident that few of us will remember the Rhacopteris ovata and the Lepidodendron that gave their lives hundreds of millions of years ago to fuel our internal combustion engines. Oil is murder. Diamonds, too.

    diamonds
    stop right there
diamonds are made from carbon that has been under pressure for millions of years no human has killed a plant to make a diamond no plants are involved u dumb shit

I look at it differently, Bill. Oil is using the remains of our plant brothers long since gone and morphed into a usable energy source that can help us protect fruits and vegetables now living. It is our duty to defend the offspring of those ancient plants who died long, long ago.

Those plants that now have turned into oil, lived long and fruitful lives. Dying of old age and nothing more, they died for the cause and we should be grateful for what they have done for us. Just as when we are buried into the ground, our coffins (evil plant products) and our own bodies will biodegrade into energy that will feed the fine lawns of the cemetries.
